Bus
There are city busses – SEPTA, Jersey buses – NJ Transit, and cross-country busses – Greyhound, etc.

SEPTA
Busses run more frequently along Broad & Market Streets. The closer to Broad and Market you are, the more frequently they run. All busses are notoriously late on weekends, especially north-south busses which cross South Street and the Italian Market. Keep an eye out in the papers for parades, rallies and demonstrations. Check the Metro paper - free, or the SEPTA web site. These events, frequent in Philly, snarl bus traffic. Buses are few and far between on Saturday and scarcer still on Sunday.

Fare
is same as Subway and Trolleys. You can use money in lieu of tokens. Bus fare is 1 token, $2.00 cash or coin or fare pass purchased in advance. 75 cents for a transfer at time of boarding, 75 cents for re-transfer at time of boarding. Tokens are purchased in packages from vending machines or agents. Most agents at the turnstiles do not sell tokens. Tokens are $1.45.

Transfers & Retransfers
They are 75 cents and good for connecting bus, subway, and subway-surface routes. You can also purchase one for a token. Below are the official rules on the back of a transfer – this information not locatable on the SEPTA web site or in the “How to Ride Guide”
